L'entreprise
The successful candidate will join the team within the Functional Genomics and Cancer Department at IGBMC, which investigates the signaling pathways responsible for the assembly of nuclear pore complexes during the cell cycle in both healthy and diseased cells. They will work under the direct supervision of the team leader, Izabela Sumara.
· The successful candidate will investigate the mechanisms governing nuclear pore complex (NPC) assembly in healthy and diseased cells.
· Scientific project and responsibilities:
Neurological diseases represent a major medical challenge, causing 6.8 million deaths annually and constituting one of the leading sources of disability worldwide. Despite decades of research, the vast majority of these conditions remain without curative treatment, underscoring the urgent need to identify novel therapeutic targets. The nuclear pore complex (NPC), the sole gateway between the nucleus and the cytoplasm, ensures the nucleocytoplasmic transport essential for neuronal survival and function. Alterations in nucleoporin (Nup) assembly and nucleocytoplasmic transport have recently been identified as a shared pathological hallmark of several severe neurological diseases, opening an unprecedented therapeutic avenue. This project aims to validate the therapeutic potential of a gene therapy strategy targeting NPC homeostasis in human disease.
· The successful candidate will investigate the mechanisms of NPC assembly in healthy and diseased cells by combining cell biology, advanced microscopy, and biochemical approaches.
· The successful candidate will actively communicate their research findings within the laboratory and the institute.
