Le poste
We are looking for a postdoc to describe a long-distance intracellular transport system consisting of actin and microtubule cytoskeleton as well as membrane components.
Main activities :
- Cryo-electron tomography specimen preparation of pollen tubes, including in vitro pollen germination, plunge freezing/high-pressure freezing, (lift-out) lamella preparation by focused-ion-beam milling, cryo-fluorescence microscopy
- Cryo-electron tomography data acquisition
- Cryo-electron tomography data processing, including pre-processing, tomogram reconstruction, ultrastructural analysis and structure determination by subtomogram averaging
- Note-keeping, reporting and discussing results within the team
- Direct collaboration with PhD students in the team
Associated activities :
- Giving scientific presentations at the institute and at international conferences
- Writing scientific manuscripts
- Participation in outreach events
- Supervision of intern students
Profil recherché
Specific requirements or constraints :
- The candidate will have to work with Arabidopsis thaliana and Fragaria vesca, in case they were allergic to those species, specific personal protective equipment will be required during handling
- Handling of electron microscopy grids made from gold requires high dexterity and precision
- The project contains a large portion of data processing which is equivalent to long bouts of sedentary work
Skills/qualifications :
- Cryo-EM/ET specimen preparation via plunge-freezing and potentially high-pressure freezing
- Image processing of cryo-EM/ET data
- Working in Linux environments, both, local and on high-performance clusters
- Scripting, preferentially in Python
- Good communication skills in English both during scientific meetings and within the team
